Roggeveld Mountain range in the distance
Verlatenkloofpas was designed in 1876 by Thomas Bain to serve as one of the routes to the Roggeveld. William Henry Hesketh was appointed as the road overseer for the construction of the pass. At Fonteintjie on the pass, a stone can be seen where he engraved his name.
